Give Cancer a Kick at the 18th Annual J.K. Lee Board Break-A-Thon on February, 11, 2012

Board Break-A-ThonJanuary 10, 2012 Brookfield, Wis. --Childhood cancer will be given a kick -- literally and figuratively -- at the 18th annual Board Break-A-Thon Saturday, February 11th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Mayfair Mall's Center Court.

The event is open to the public, particularly anyone whose life has been touched by cancer.

"It's easy to feel powerless in the face of such suffering," said event sponsor Christine Lee of J. K. Lee Black Belt Academy. "So to write on this little piece of wood the name of a loved one or an inspiring message is an incredibly empowering act of strength.

"When you kick through the board, you take back the power. This truly is a fight against cancer."

All proceeds from the event benefit the MACC Fund. Everyone who donates has the opportunity to break at least one board at the event.

Since its inception, the event has raised over $550,000 for cancer research. This year's goal is to raise $100,000. To make a direct donation, visit http://2012JKLee.kintera.org.

As part of this annual event, Tae Kwon Do students from all five J. K. Lee Black Belt Academy locations have been collecting pledges and will also be on hand to break boards and assist members of the public who are willing to give it a try. They will showcase their skills during martial arts demonstrations, which will be held throughout the event.

New this year, J.K. Lee Black Belt Academy has created a giving initiative to help people interested in martial arts get started. One of the underlying philosophies of taekwondo is to take care of others. The J.K. Lee Black Belt Academy is committed to this philosophy heart and soul.

Anyone who donates $29 or more to the MACC Fund through the J.K. Lee Board Break-A-Thon will be offered one month of free taekwondo lessons along with a free uniform. To start your free month, you simply need to present your donation receipt at any one of the five J.K. Lee locations. To take part in this program, please click here to donate.
