November 2009 - A Month for Giving Thanks
Dear Friends:
To honor our nation's tradition of giving thanks this month, I find myself reflecting upon the many treasured moments the MACC Fund has had this year. We offer our gratitude for the gifts you have given for children with cancer and blood disorders.
While we are truly grateful to you, remember that as you consider the things you are thankful for, the MACC Fund is thankful for you! Think of all of the children who will be with their families on Thursday, thanks in part to your generosity. At the same time, there will be many children who will not be at home since they will be at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and at the American Family Children's Hospital in Madison. While there, they have reason for holiday hope, again thanks in part to you. Sadly, we also honor the memory of those who never lost hope while fighting valiantly before finally succumbing to their diseases.
For every child fighting cancer or a related blood disorder, you represent the Gift of Hope. To them, you have given hope—hope for another day, hope for another year, and most importantly, hope for a cure. At this time of giving, please consider giving a Thanksgiving "Gift of Hope through Research."
We wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for being part of Thanksgiving for the children with cancer and related blood disorders!
Blessings,

Your Gifts in Action
This month, researchers and clinicians moved into the MACC Fund UW Childhood Cancer Research Wing in the Wisconsin Institute for Medical Research on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. In capturing what the MACC Fund's gift means to the research team in Madison, Dr. Paul Sondel wrote: "[W]e are grateful to you, the entire MACC Fund Board and Staff, and your thousands of donors, whose faith in the promise of research is seen every day in the lives of children and their families that are benefitting from the work you are supporting here in Wisconsin, both in Milwaukee and Madison. Your incredible gift has meant the successful creation and completion of this Childhood Cancer Research Wing.
We thank you for your most generous support and for the trust that you have put in us to be using this wonderful resource wisely. On behalf of our whole team, I can assure you that we carry your trust and hope with vigor, conviction and optimism that continued improvements, through research and its clinical translation, will move ahead even more quickly, because of your generous, kind and dedicated support."
