March 2011 - Spring Has Sprung!

Dear Friends:

It's official. Winter in Wisconsin is over! At least, the meteorologists say that March 1 signals the start of Spring, and none too soon. If it is Spring, it must be time to open registration for the TREK 100 which is exactly what we did on March 1. You can visit www.trek100.org to learn all about the 22nd annual edition of the Ride for Hope and help us work to crack the $10,000,000 mark in total donations. Trek's impressive headquarters in Waterloo, Wis. will once again beckon us to "pedal for a purpose" in the rolling farm country. Trek's generous support is unprecedented in the cycling field and the MACC Fund and the children extend a heartfelt "Thanks a Million, Trek!"

This past weekend was busy as the MACC Fund's friends from the University of Wisconsin's Theta Chi Fraternity held their annual Ski for Cancer at Cascade Mountain on Saturday. Special thanks to this great fraternity's current members and generous alumni for hosting this very special event which was one of the first events to benefit the MACC Fund in its early years. It promises to be one of the best fund-raising years in the rich Ski for Cancer history. Sunday was Women for MACC's Pasta Fest at the iconic Serb Hall on Milwaukee's south side. The annual event draws people from throughout the area who come looking for a great meal and wonderful Women for MACC hospitality along great raffle prizes, clowns and entertainment.

We hope you will join us for the final regular season home game of the Milwaukee Wave professional indoor soccer team on Sunday, March 13 at 3pm against the Omaha Vipers at the US Cellular Arena. Super Bowl XLV MVP Quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be the special guest appearing on behalf of the MACC Fund. The Wave are great supporters of the MACC Fund and they are teaming up with another MACC Fund friend Aaron in helping to fight childhood cancer and blood disorder research. The MACC Fund will receive $2 from every ticket sold. You might even get a chance to win a special Aaron Rodgers Wave jersey if you are one of 12 lucky fans drawn at random. Tickets are going fast, so don’t delay in visiting www.milwaukeewave.com for tickets and more information. The MACC Fund thanks the Wave for its generous support and looks forward to welcoming Aaron Rodgers back for his first public appearance following the triumphant return to Titletown.

The first weekend in April will be full of "MACC Fun" as well. The Brookfield Jaycees will be hosting their 27th annual Basketball Marathon on April 1 and 2 (no fooling) at St. Joseph's gymnasium in Wauwatosa. The Brookfield Jaycees have made the MACC Fund one of their fine programs which we are most grateful for. April 2nd is also the 2nd Annual Team Jeremy Rosen Final Four Fundraiser for the MACC Fund starting at 5:30pm until 9 at Mo's Irish Pub in downtown Milwaukee. Jeremy, who touched many lives in his all-too-short life, loved basketball so this is a fitting way to celebrate his life while supporting Team Jeremy Rosen's fund-raising efforts to help the MACC Fund. Round out the weekend with the annual "Battle of the Badges" Hockey game pitting area Firefighters against area Police Officers starting at 12:30 in the Bradley Center before the Admirals take on Peoria at 5 PM. Visit www.milwaukeeadmirals.com for ticket information. The MACC Fund thanks the Admirals and the brave men and women who protect us each day.
