PGA Tour golfer Mark Wilson, native of Menomonee Falls and graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran High School made a special visit to the HOT Unit (Hematology/Oncology/Transplant) at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin on December 23rd. Children who are treated there benefit from MACC Fund supported research.
Mark and his fiance Amy presented a check to MACC Fund treasurer Dave Morris and Dr. Jim Casper, Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Section Chief for Hematology Oncology Transplant at Children’s Hosptial. They were also joined by Jim Fischer of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Southeastern Wisconsin Region.
The check for $5,000 represents Mark’s donation following the inaugural “Making a Mark Fore MACC” program which he initiated during the 2004 PGA Tour. Mark doubled the anticipated donation since he believes so strongly in the work the MACC Fund is doing to support research. Thrivent sponsors Mark on the PGA Tour and matches all of his contributions. Mark makes a donation for every tournament cut he makes as well as additional dollars earned for finishes in the top 30 on the Tour’s weekly events.
In addition, Mark won $5,000 for the MACC Fund in the US Bank Championship Tuesday Scramble held in July. Thrivent also generously matched thoses funds to bring the total donation to the MACC Fund on behalf of Mark Wilson’s “Making a Mark Fore MACC” to $20,000.
Thrivent is no stranger to the MACC Fund having contributed $600,000 in 6 years to the fight against childhood cancer.
