TWENTY-SIX YEARS OF HOLIDAY LIGHTS PROVIDE HOPE ON CANDY CANE LANE

2010picThe 26th year of making a difference in the life of a child with cancer opens Friday night, November 25th! Take a trip down Candy Cane Lane in West Allis and share the true spirit of the season. Remember to drive with your lights on!!

The West Allis neighborhood bounded by Oklahoma and Montana Avenues and 92nd to 96th Street is transformed into a winter wonderland in November and December to benefit the MACC Fund.

For the 25th year, neighbors will join together to show the spirit of the holiday season during “Sharing Christmas.” The holiday lights will be aglow from Nov. 25 – Dec. 27, 6-9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 5-10 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The event is free, but visitors may leave a donation if they wish. These donations translate into a perpetual gift of hope and life for children with cancer. The official collection site is at the corner of 95th & Manitoba.

Throughout the month a variety of other entertainment is also offered. Scheduled to appear:

November 25 – North Shore Bank Night (6-10 p.m.)
November 26 – Star Wars Night (7-10 p.m.) Come see all of your favorite characters
November 29 – Milwaukee Wave Players collect donations from 6-7:30 p.m.
December 1 – Meet Karen, Scott and Radar from FM106’s morning Moo Crew! from 6-7:30 p.m.
December 3 – Old Wisconsin Sausage/Majdecki’s Sentry Night 5-10 p.m.
December 4 – Meet your Milwaukee Buck’s Energee! Dance Team from 5-6:30 p.m.
December 5 – Say hello to the hilarious John McGivern..sure to make you smile from 6-7:30 p.m.
December 7 – The Diamond Dancers – the Professional Dance Team of Milwaukee’s Major League Baseball Team are out from 6-9 p.m.
December 9 – Star Wars Night (7-9 p.m.).
December 12 – Connie & Curtis from 97.3 Radio Now will be out from 6-7:30 p.m.
December 14 – The Diamond Dancers – the Professional Dance Team of Milwaukee’s Major League Baseball Team are out from 6-9 p.m.
December 15 – Meet Meg & Murphy from 95.7 WRIT from 6-7:30 p.m. along with West Allis Mayor Dan Devine
December 16 – Say thank you to your Wisconsin Veterans. (5-10 p.m.)
December 16 – The Annual Mascot Night with Mascots from your favorite teams & businesses from 7-9 p.m.
December 23 – Meet West Allis’ fire fighters and bring the kids to see their fire engines, ladder company
engines, and paramedic units. Great, safe fun for the whole family from 5-10 p.m.

(Santa Claus will make an appearance every night from December 6 – December 23rd.)

The MACC Fund is leading the fight against childhood cancer and related blood disorders. The primary beneficiary of MACC Fund support is the Midwest Children’s Cancer Center, located at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Research is also conducted at the Carbone Cancer Center at the University of Wisconsin- Madison.
